Research for this report was conducted between June 21, 2010 and September 20, 2010 and reflects growth activity occurring during the prior four-month period. Information was derived from the continual process of interviewing and verifying more than 7,300 restaurant chain concepts across the United States and Canada.

Research Parameters
The following criteria were considered when compiling this quarterly growth ranking:
- A restaurant chain or group with at least 3 units.
- A restaurant chain or group that began the period with fewer than 50 units.
- A restaurant chain or group that grew by at least 3 units.
- A restaurant chain or group that is a unique brand or concept, not a franchisee.
- A concept with growth within the U.S. or Canada.
- A restaurant chain or group with reliable information available regarding unit counts and activity.
